Using Hand Tool in Adobe Photoshop Changing Matte in Adobe Photoshop
May 14

Open the navigator palette by Window > Menu, Shown below.

It will open the Navigator palette shown below.

This palette is somewhat a mixture of zoom and pan tool. You will notice that you will get a thumbnail of your current document. You will also notice that you have a red border around your image. This border indicates to us how much of our image are we viewing, but since I’m viewing all the image so the outline is all over the thumbnail.

We have a Zoom percent in the bottom left corner as outlined below.

If you move your cursor over the percentage written you will get a text insert tool. Click on it and then you can type in your own percentage. Type your percentage and press ‘Enter’ it will zoom your image according to the percentage you typed. I type in 200%, and my navigator palette looks like this shown below.

Now notice that you have a small box in the image, This red box is actually indicating on the document screen, that what region we are viewing in the document window.

You’re also allowed to enlarge the navigator palette by clicking and dragging from the borders of the navigator palette window in PC, and from the bottom right corner in Mac.

Now pan around in the image with the Pan Tool. You will see that as you pan around in the image the red box in the Navigator palette moves in accordance.

Now another interesting thing in the Navigator palette is the Zoom slider outlined below.

Its a slider bar. Click and drag right or left the slider and you will zoom in and out of that area, where currently is the red box. You can zoom in upto 1600 Percent. It is the zooming limit in the Photoshop.

Now there are two button at the bottom of the Navigator.

Clicking on the left button will zoom in and on the right one will zoom out. These actually buttons for the sliders. When you click the right button the slider will move towards right and when you click on left button the slider will move toward left.

Now the last but not least function of the navigator palette. You can actually change the Color of the red box in the image. Why would you like to change the color of that box ? . Consider if you have an image that similar to the color of the color of the box i.e. red, then it will be hard to see the box. In this case we need to change the color of it. To do so, go to the palette flyout menu and click on ‘Palette’ Options, as shown below.

It will open the options window shown below.

Here in the palette options we can change the color. Click on the big red box and it will open the Color Picker. Or select any color from the menu next to the label ‘Color’.

Now move your mouse over the red box then click and drag, you can also pan around in this way.
