Irrespective of your technical experience, this book can guide you through the entire process of building or upgrading your own computer. Information about the latest top-quality components, including Intel’s Core2Duo and AMD’s Athlon X2 CPUs will help you figure out exactly what’s under the hood and how to fix or upgrade your PC. This book sets out to make the process fun, painless, inexpensive and more satisfying then buying an assembled computer off the shelf. Instead of putting together a simple list of hardware, Building the Perfect PC discusses how to select the right hardware.

After a few chapters on the basics of building PCs and buying parts, the authors describe five different PCs: a mainstream system, a small office server, a powerful LAN party PC, a home theater PC, and a small form factor PC. The issues involved with choosing parts are carefully explained, and there are step-by-step instructions on assembling each one, accompanied with commendable photographs.
